1974 – 1976:
Mr. B.B. Pendkar after completing his education M.Sc. Botany (Plant Pathology). Worked as Research worker for two years (1974 – 1976) under the Government of Maharashtra Scheme “Extraction of Cellulytic Enzymes from Fungi”The project was guided by Honorable Dr. K.S.Deshpande sir.

September 1976:
Started production of Microbial Biofertilizers by formation of company K-FERTS LAB (Technology to manufacturing of microbial Biofertilizer was not available anywhere even with India’s apex agri. Institution - ICAR ).

1976 - 1980:
Worked on isolation, characterization and purification of the local specific microbes – Atmospheric Nitrogen fixing microbes like Rhizobium sp. And Azotobacter sp. and started to market it for seed treatment of legumes and cereal crops.

1980 – 1985:
Extension and innovation work of Biofertilizers in Marathwada area on cotton, Jowar and Pulses.

1985 – 1990:
Marketing efforts increased by extension of microbial Biofertilizers in Horticulture and forestry plantation.

1990 – 1995:
In 1991 Govt. of Maharashtra started to distribute Microbial biofertilizersfor seed treatment to the farmers of pulse crops. Participated in above scheme by providing microbial Biofertilizers to district level Agri department under commissionarate of Agriculture government of Maharashtra.

1995 – 2000:
Awareness regarding Microbial Biofertilizers was increasing therefore started work of extention on sugar cane crop for the usage of nitrogen fixing Microbial Biofertilizers, which was very successful. The innovation effort was with very positive results.

2000 – 2005:
Government of India started a scheme “PRODUCTION & USE OF BIOFERTILIZERS” through out the country. K-FERTS LAB was selected and received Ruppees 20 lakh grant under this scheme for scaling up the production capacity up to 150 MT/year.Marketing was improved after receiving the grant for capacity strengthening. Government institute”s co-operation to popularise the microbial Biofertilizer was intrumental to promate the extension throughout the state by distributing the Biofertilizers Packets for pulses crops.

2005 – 2010:
During this period government of india Substantially allocated funds to State govts. for extention work of microbial Biofertilizers which clearly impressed the farmers community by sending the massege regarding importance of biological inputs in Indian agriculture. Government of India during these period increased innovative efforts through establishing “National Centre for Organic Farming” (NCOF) at Ghaziabad (UP) along with 6 Regional Centers (RCOF). NCOF Started to distribute the significantly effective strains to Microbial Biofertilizers manufacturing units, which helped improve the quality and speeded up the positive innovative outcomes.

2010 – 2015:
K-FERTS LAB Intensified the work of innovation directly through farmers, visting their fields and advocating the importance of microbial Biofertilizers in soil health and climate change issues.

2015 – 2021:
Company received marketing response from big farms. Company exported Microbial Biofertilizers to CANADA. Currently company has gained trust of farmers of the country in general and in particular farmers of the Maharashtra.

Currently, promoter of the company has 45+ years of experience in Production / Marketing / Research & Development and Innovation of Microbial Biofertilizers. Business-driven individual with more than 45 years working as Director for Microbial Biofertilizer Manufacturing organization K-FERTS LAB . Determined and experienced in client rapport, budget control and employee mentoring and coaching. Innovative and driven with strong technical know-how, natural leadership talent and analytical problem-solving expertise.
